Information Visualization

Visualizing abstract data

An adequate visualization of large datasets often leads to new insights and a better understanding of the matter. The structured display of data in information technology supports the abilities of the human brain to interpret pictures and graphics and to recognize patterns and structures very rapidly. A good visualization therefore aids to generate meaning from information.

Visualizing data in virtual reality (VR)

Representation of data in virtual environments offers a better overview as well as new ways of interacting with the data by using the advantages of stereoscopic projections as well as 3D tracking systems. At the i4Ds we are researching different interaction techniques for navigation and searching tasks in large datasets.
