Virtual Reality
Virtual Reality (VR) is a technology that allows for spatial as well as intuitive human-computer interaction. The VR system can display virtual objects in their original scale and offers the possibility to grab and manipulate them like real objects.
In virtual work environments (usually referred to as virtual environments), 3D-tracking systems play a cardinal role as they keep track of the user position and movements and thus enable the environment to display a stereoscopic image with a correct perspective in real-time. This gives rise to new concepts of interaction which can drastically facilitate the handling of huge data spaces as well as complex structures and processes.
