Use of virtual reality (VR) in the building industry
Within the scope of the KTI-Research project „Use of 4D-design-systems, simulation techniques and process patterns to support lean construction methods on station buildings of the SBB“ we developed application scenarios for the use of 4D models in VR from the concept to the software implementation. Tools for planning, conferencing and visualization were developed in order to support decision-making processes and to provide for an efficient project communication among planning teams, towards clients and for presentations. The following goals were achieved:
- Development and description of application scenarios, workflows and work environments
- Integration of 4D datasets into VR systems
- Specifications of the adaptations for VR
- Development of test applications for the interactive visualization of data, based on modular software components of the i4Ds
- Design of presentation and work environments
