Redesign Spinnstube

The i4Ds supports Fraunhofer IAIS in a technical and aesthetic redesign of the augmented reality installation "Spinnstube"

Starting position

Spinnstube is an installation for augmented reality (AR) that has been developed during the ARISE (Augmented Reality in School Environments) project. The project aims at bringing AR into classrooms and supporting multimedia learning. The existing functional prototypes have proved that the technical concept is viable but they need optimization in usability and design. The ARISE project was supported by the European Commission (FP6, IST-027039).

Project contents

In the redesign process of the installation the existing setup was investigated and reworked in ergonomics, usability, design and production cost. Work carried out ranged from broader design concepts to optimization and construction detail solutions as well as a study on materials and production cost.

The final version was presented to the IAIS after several iterations in the form of 3D data, sketches and explaining text.
