VRESSI
This project aims at exploring documents in very large scientific data archives using Virtual Reality (VR) technologies.
VRESSI introduces a new working environment that allows scientists to virtually search, visualize and process archive documents in 3D space. We are studying two complementary aspects of archive data management. The first aspect covers novel interaction concepts to visually search for archived documents in a VR environment. The second aspect concerns concepts to represent and explore individual documents in a VR environment in order to gain new insights and discover structural correlations. The current prototype is based on the data acquired by the RHESSI instrument, a spacecraft dedicated to solar observations as well as on a private digital photo album.
